Easy To Follow
A real programming bookThis book is 650 pages of pertinent and valuable examples and I have used it many times to help me solve many real world problems. I specifically liked that fact that it is the first book I have ever read that described the WM_GETMINMAXINFO message as a method of making CFormView based applications look the way they should. For the record, every other programming book I have that relates to MFC in any way gives naive CFormView examples that look stupid when running and behave stupidly when used.
Very useful, excellent reference.

A must read for everyone! This is not a book for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. Scott goes right for the jugular, and pulls no punches with the techniques shown. His style is very much 'in your face' and up close and personal. As he puts it 'you must become your assailant's worst nightmare ' if you are to survive'
As a full time self defense trainer and part time law enforcement officer, I am constantly amazed by recommendations made by well-intentioned people that you should 'give in ' to the attacker and just do whatever he says. My experience and research has shown that the individuals who are mentally aware, properly trained and are willing to fight back are the survivors. This book clearly shows how to do all three.
The good news is that statistics show that the people that are the most prepared to defend themselves are the most likely not to get attacked. Although most attackers are dumb, they are not stupid. Just as the tiger looks for the weakest animal in the herd, the predator looks for signs of weakness when choosing a victim. Just the mere act of preparing yourself may be enough to keep you safe.
Waking the Tiger Within is easy to follow and understand and should be considered a must-read for anyone interested in defending themselves and their loved ones from violent attacks.
A MUST READ BOOK FOR ALL!
Waking the Tiger Within by Scott Flint: A MUST Read!"Waking the Tiger Within" by Scott Flint has to be one of the best sources of staying safe to come along in some time. The book covers not only the number one ingredient of safety, ie awareness, but guides the reader into developing "Your natural built-in instinct to survive". His chapter, "Stop Button" is exactly what we have searched for: ending "an attack in one second." (No gun, pepper spray or Black Belt needed.) Worth the price of the book by itself.
Got kids or grandchildren? Worried about bullies? His chapters on these subjects are excellent.
Road Rage? Car-Jacking? (What would YOU do, if locked in the trunk of your car by an assailant?)
Many of the areas Scott writes about are covered in the seminars I present, but this book opens up a host of new, and surprisingly simple, techniques that almost anyone, at any age, in any state of health, can grasp and use.
Chapter One begins with these words: "No one ever has the right to hurt you." When you have finished reading and following the simple advice presented in these pages, you will be a long way toward the realization of that goal.
Buy this book for yourself and give copies to those you love.

Lots of Originality

Up To Date Doctors Get Along and Offer Comprehensive AdviceThis book is well documented, giving citations chapter by chapter - so the reader has some idea what information came from which sources, and can refer to those sources should she wish.
It is very heartening to see an Interventional Radiologist (Goodwin) and a Gynecologist (Broder) COOPERATING to provide COMPLETE information about fibroids in ONE book. Too frequently, these two branches of medicine appear to be competing with one another, even trying to discredit one another, on issues relating to fibroids and treatment of fibroids. There are treatments for fibroids which involve each of these doctor's specializations. Together these two authors make it possible for women to consider the options based on the knowledge of doctors who support what is best for the PATIENT rather than what is best for the individual doctor's ego or pocketbook. This book does that and does it splendidly well. Broder and Goodwin together set out both the pluses and minuses of the various available treatments and what's appropriate when - regardless of whose specialty each treatment lies within.
The authors even cover what's known about treatments of the future including some currently in clinical trials. Goodwin and Broder also discuss lifestyle changes, suggest ways to implement some of them, and what effects one might or might not realistically expect from such changes. The book is rational rather than emotional.
Although this book is written by doctors, it is clear, concise, easy to comprehend and complete. It is not preachy. It does not talk down to the reader. These authors understand their audience and are able to effectively communicate needed information.

awesome!
A awsome teen romance
"Couldn't keep my hands off it!"

An adventure for the young.
An Irish myth classic.
Stellar Irish fantasyThe two teenage heroes, from modern times, are suddenly swept up from our world to a different, earlier magical one--the world of Paedur the Bard, the isle of De Danann. Soon they are caught on a mystical struggle, with a bunch of unexpected new allies -- a huntress, a torc-alta, a bard with a hook rather than a hand, and a guy who controls one of the Elementals.
In short, this young and strong band much rescue the Book of Windlord from the island's evil emperor, Balor (whose name will be familiar to students of Irish myth) and his hideous army of reptilian warriors. In addition to this, Our Heroes must also find a way to get home to their own time and place.
Too many books collapse in under the wish to pander to mass tastes, simple sword and sorcery, and sacrifice the underlying tones that make them unique to start with. I include Celtic-influenced SF/F in that category. But often the best gems of this subgenre are to be found in smaller publishers, like "Riddle of Roses" and "Knockabeg." These allow the full richness of the storytelling to be seen and felt, and this one does not skimp on the details that need to be handled.
The two human kids are saved from being standard by the excellent surroundings characters and how they interact. Though I felt the huntress was kinda flat, I liked the torc-alta, the bard and the Elemental lord. Balor is evil, nuff zed (although he is a villain that has been plumbed through many books, anyone with the name Balor remains utter evil).
The writing is excellent and high-paced, though I sometimes wished that Windlord was longer than it actually was. The cover art is amazing, with the four people riding on a reptilian beastie over a castle...
Overall, an engaging and exciting read. Well worth it.

Still going strong!
Coverage of the teen's ironies and agonies
